Jim enjoys delivering tangible business benefits by coaching individual leaders to enhance the capability of the leadership team. He enjoys demonstrating the impact on the bottom line for sales functions by focusing on those sales capabilities that drive great sales performance.

Jim uses his knowledge of psychology when coaching his son’s U12 football team, the results are not always reflected in the scoreline.


Jim has 20 years’ experience in supporting clients to identify and develop their top talent, in particular for salespeople and leaders. He has worked on projects for both UK-based SMEs and globally across Europe, Middle East, North America and Australasia for blue-chip clients including HSBC, KPMG, Legal & General, British Airways & Toyota.


Jim is an Associate Member of the Association of Business Psychologists (ABP) and is registered as a Test User: Occupational Ability & Personality with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Sarah Clapperton, Director

Sarah is driven by using business psychology to improve business results and, of course to add value for and to the individual.

She loves applying in-depth analysis and evidence-based techniques to truly get ‘under the hood’, helping people to achieve those light bulb moments that add genuine self-awareness. The satisfaction comes from using this as a springboard for development and growth, at an individual, team and business level.

Sarah also has a fascination with the leadership style of Jurgen Klopp, his ability to develop and inspire his players and she likes to unpick his post-match interviews to appreciate the subtlety of how he motivates his team.


Sarah is a Chartered Business Psychologist with 20 years’ experience working in recruitment, selection and people development. She specialises in the in-depth assessment and development of leaders and strategic salespeople.

Sarah has worked with RBS, Vodafone, Diageo, E.ON, Lloyds TSB and National Australia Group, Capita and Global.


Sarah is registered as a Test User (Ability & Personality) with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and accredited to use a range of robust personality tools. She is a Chartered member of the BPS and is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council.

Graham Hutt, Associate Consultant

Graham is passionate about helping people to identify the next steps in their personal development journey and loves to offer observations, support and challenge to help them to be successful. He enjoys working with talented and open-minded individuals who are looking for new ways to enhance their careers and on the job performance.

A constant sense of enjoyment and frustration, comes from examining and understanding the leadership and coaching crossovers between business and sport – particularly football, basketball and tennis


In his early career Graham worked as a Change Management consultant for a large financial services company before moving into HR consulting. With over 20 years of experience of delivering projects across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. he has worked for a very broad range of clients, including HSBC, AXA, Egg, Prudential, Nat West, AMP, BT, RWE Npower, Airbus, Highways Agency, British Council, Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), OFSTED, Ministry of Defence (MOD) and various NHS trusts.


Graham is registered as a Test User (Ability & Personality) with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and accredited to use a range of tools such as OPQ32, Wave, NEO PI-R, Hogan Development Survey (HDS), Talent Q Dimensions, EQi and various 360 tools.

Claire Parkin, Associate Consultant

Claire’s fascination with people and psychology started when she was 14 years old and has never waned since.

She is passionate about assessment and using robust, innovative methodologies to help both individuals and organisations fulfil their personal and commercial aspirations. Claire loves getting to the heart of a people issue, whether it be supporting an individual to identify a key performance block, helping a dysfunctional team become more cohesive or solving an organisation’s recruitment issues.


Claire is a Chartered Psychologist with 20 years’ experience. She has specialised throughout her career in applying in-depth assessment methodologies to recruitment and development settings.

Claire has worked with clients across all sectors, including Nielsen, Eversheds Sutherland, Qinetiq, Asda, Weil, AMEC and Merrill Lynch and is experienced in supporting sales recruitment and development at both a senior and junior level.  She has recently worked with a global data and information organisation undertaking a sales transformation programme; this project included designing an end-to-end sales leader and sales executive recruitment process as well as a development centre intervention to support existing staff in transitioning to the new sales approach.


Claire is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council. She is registered as a Test User (Ability and Personality) and accredited in a wide range of personality and strength-based psychometric tools.

John McFarland, Associate Consultant

John is passionate about helping people to fulfil their potential and overcome the challenges they face during their careers. As well as helping individuals, John enjoys working with business leaders to understand their talent pipeline and to prioritise their development planning initiatives.

As a keen golfer, John loves the Ryder Cup. Golfers are ‘lone wolves’ who play for themselves for 51 weeks of the year, but at the Ryder Cup they have to be part of a unit and work towards a common goal. Some are made for this, but some struggle. We see the same in business, such as high-performing salespeople transitioning into a sales leadership role. This is an area where John enjoys helping people to change their focus and to bring out the best in others.


John has over 20 years’ experience in designing and delivering selection/development centres and training courses. His work has taken him across Europe, US, Far East and Middle East, helping clients such as the UN, AstraZeneca, Coca-Cola, AkzoNobel and Equinor. John has also supported organisations, such as Lloyd’s of London, in developing a more inclusive approach towards recruitment.


John is is registered as a Test User (Occupational Ability & Personality) with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and he is a member of the core training team for SHL in the delivery of BPS accreditation courses for Levels 1 and 2.
